The course introduces the main phonological, morphological, syntactic and semantic aspects of the English language. It provides students with the descriptive and metalinguistic tools pivotal to the development of an awareness of the building blocks of English through the analysis of authentic materials. The second, and more practical part, consists in the linguistic and cultural analysis of different contemporary text types centred upon the city of London.
The course requires a B1 entry level (Common European Framework of Reference) and a B2 final exit level. The interactive nature of the course calls for an active participation in the classroom during lessons. The lessons will also involve practice exercises and the analysis of online material.
